Zuma Limping? What Next for South Africa?

Mike Hampton Posted on 29th Nov 2016 by mikehampton1st Nov 2020

Jacob Zuma, the President of South Africa and the African National Congress (ANC), survived the biggest challenge to his power the past two days but he’d be foolish to call it a win. It’s possible that our country, as a consequence, will limp with him into injury. Despite media hype that’s surely been linked to the grandstanding of the Democratic Alliance (DA) in Parliament, Zuma had never been challenged where it counts which is by the ANC’s top leadership. During the latest ordinary meeting of the ANC’s National Executive Committee … Read the full article…

Knysna ANC Candidates List 2016

Mike Hampton Posted on 5th Jul 2016 by mikehampton1st Nov 2020

What do you think of the ANC candidates for the 2016 Municipal Elections in Knysna? Minister Derek Hanekom’s arrival made it obvious that the ANC were taking the announcement of their  local election candidates seriously. Rumours that candidates were on and off the list are likely true but what counts the most is that there are no protests or riots (as has happened around South Africa). It’s possible that Knysna residents are mostly happy with the final list. Victor Molosi is the ANC Mayoral candidate. Having previously been the Speaker … Read the full article…

Knysna Beaches Wave 5 Blue Flags

Mike Hampton Posted on 14th Oct 2014 by mikehampton14th Oct 2014

At the national Blue Flag launch at Thesen Islands yesterday, Knysna heard that the area will be the proud host of five Blue Flags during this year’s season. Knysna’s Executive Mayor said they are extremely happy with the results. “Buffalo Bay and Brenton-on-Sea beaches once again received Blue Flag status. Swartvlei beach in the Sedgefield area received pilot status, and Thesen Islands Marina full Blue Flag status. I also want to congratulate Ocean Odyssey, a local Lagoon and Ocean charter boat company, for receiving their Blue Flag status.” WESSA (the … Read the full article…

Who Got an A or F in Government in 2013?

Mike Hampton Posted on 22nd Feb 2014 by mikehampton1st Nov 2020

This is a summary of the Mail & Guardian’s Cabinet Report Card which not only sums up the performance of South Africa’s leaders in 2013 but teaches us a lot about their ability and intentions. The original article, ‘On your marks, get set … FAIL’ was long so i worried that the average reader would ignore this important read but political followers are encouraged to follow the link above and give the authors the credit they deserve for a job well done. Note that opinions are sometimes mine and not … Read the full article…
