Light… sun slips away from us and clouds become fondant shapes in the ebbing day… Dark… 50 sexual shades becoming one primeval electrical company called Eskom… The bat flickers from visibility to invisibility between the trees… Light… my fire yellows and oranges like a distant house lit by candles glowing through curtain… the odd oasis of solar power unmoving whilst car lights shine like concerts on tar… Streetlight… impassive, waiting… artificial life bursts on an island… Dark… those last seconds when true night squeezes my hand goodbye as electricity surges … Read the full article…

Knysna Power Cut Moved to Oct 11 2015

Note that the Knysna power cut scheduled for October 4 2015 has been moved to Sunday, October 11, from 08h00 to 18h00 (in the case of rain, it will be rescheduled again). The following areas are NOT affected: Belvidere; Brenton on Sea; Lake Brenton; Salt River; Green Pastures & Knysna Heights [Editor: I’m assuming that means Knysna central, Hornlee, Concordia, Khayalethu, Olde Place, Hunter’s Home and the East Head WILL be affected] The interruption is due to essential maintenance and upgrading of the Main Intake Substation. Copper Theft in Sedgefield

As issued by the Knysna Municipality… Knysna Municipality faces the burden of having to repair and replace copper more frequently due to the alarming increase in copper theft and vandalism. On Monday night (1 September), ten spans of copper conductors (total approximately 2000m) at Trails End were stolen in Sedgefield. The municipality replaced the conductors with aluminum and managed to restore the power by 19h30 on Tuesday night. The incident was reported to South African Police Services (SAPS) and they are investigating.
