Calls to use live ammo on Plett protestors

Mike Hampton Posted on 13th Jun 2018 by mikehampton1st Nov 2020
live ammo Plettenberg Bay protestors

“USE LIVE AMMO” is one of the nasty comments in response to yesterday’s protest in Plettenberg Bay – www.facebook.com/KnysnaPlettHerald/posts/1831789653579650. It horribly reminds me how the ex-head of the Knysna Ratepayers Association once also called for live ammo to be used and had one of his friends back him up by suggesting that the same bulldozers used on Palestinians should be brought in. Both were DA members, removed but with the DA failing to appropriately address the issue, seemingly more interested in their image than substance. Unfortunately, the NP’s presence will … Read the full article…

Dear Julius Malema, About That ‘Monkey’ Term

Mike Hampton - Dear Julius destroying H&M store was hate

The Facebook reaction to this post is for some to ridiculously call me racist instead of entering reasonable discussion that’s on topic and towards a better South Africa for all. I hope that some will think before jumping, gaining perspective of my position by first viewing some of my previous thoughts on racists and racism.

Our Cannibal Democracy

Mike Hampton Posted on 13th Nov 2016 by mikehampton6th Jan 2021

Is this what we want “democracy” to be? Where One Desire, One Vote = Foolish Democracy? Colin McGinn is one of the greatest thinkers of our age. He uncharacteristically blogged, prompted, as many have been, by shock at the USA’s election of Donald Trump… except that Mcginn posted his blog days before. I read it whilst my spirit was slumped by the stupidity and hatefulness of my South Africans who, too quickly, have fallen into camps that have nothing to do with fairness and justice and too much to do … Read the full article…

The Halloween Birth

Mike Hampton Posted on 30th Oct 2016 by mikehampton6th Jan 2021

I’m keeping my promise to myself to steer clear of Facebook in general until next year but did pre-schedule a few posts. This is the first of two Halloween contributions, respectively a fiction and a non-fiction. You can tell me after you’ve read both which is the real horror… THE HALLOWEEN BIRTH The woman’s corpse lay sprawled like some adult’s forgotten doll. Her mouth, stained by scream, underlined her strained facial muscles and eyes that terror had mutilated into bloated orbs. Her ripped clothing exposed flesh from torso to thighs; … Read the full article…

Gay-Hating Pastor Banned from Entering SA

Mike Hampton Posted on 14th Sep 2016 by mikehampton1st Nov 2020

Gay-hating, Pastor Steven Anderson has been banned from entering South Africa. It’s rare when we can compliment our government so we should do so without dilution. It’s an even rarer moment when the public, through petition and media, scored a victory for common sense and human rights. I don’t know what the last count was (i stopped receiving notifications about a month ago), but approximately 150 of you here added your name to that petition – thank you! You can read more about this story at The Cape Times. If … Read the full article…

Dear Donald Trump supporters: “Vulgarity is not the new high”

Mike Hampton Posted on 12th Mar 2016 by mikehampton23rd Jan 2021

Dear Donald Trump supporters: Vulgarity is not the new high. Lies are not presidential. No bigot should be allowed the possibility of influencing world politics. Trump is a cruel joke, an indictment of the Western world losing its self-proclaimed “civilisation”. Trump is the crime of entertainment becoming more important than real lives. When we look back at our bloody history as Humankind, we observe that this is the kind of person we should have stopped. I’m proud of the protestors at Trump’s Chicago rally last night. Everyone who stands against … Read the full article…

A Brit Gives Jacob Zuma the Middle Finger

Mike Hampton Posted on 9th Feb 2015 by mikehampton1st Nov 2020

When people blame the distant past because they screwed up the present, they do not deserve to be leaders. I’m talking about Jacob Zuma, of course. What makes his blame even more detestable is that he uses race as a weapon just like one of his cronies recently did with the riots in Soweto. Promoting hate is not a good leadership quality either. Surely there are good ANC members in Knysna who disagree with him on this??? If so, why are they so silent? Is it because a salary is … Read the full article…

Is There a Scary Media Race War Against White South Africans?

Mike Hampton Posted on 20th Oct 2014 by mikehampton20th Oct 2014

I’m used to being criticised by white people for being too liberal when i try present an alternative view of poorer black and coloured people in Knysna. I find reverse racism as despicable because it’s equally destructive when trying to build a future which can only be done together. With my workload increasing, i’ve continuously fallen further behind my goals of writing about many topics so i’m relieved when i can point you towards the writings of others. This article is by an unknown author, his or her anonymity likely … Read the full article…
