Same Shit Book #2 – Bad Cops (draft)

Mike Hampton Posted on 27th Jul 2019 by mikehampton27th Jul 2019
Bad Cops - Same Shit Different Government #2

There’s supposed to be a sequel to my ‘Same Shit Different Government: Book 1 – The Corruption & The Intimidation’. It’s name is/was to be ‘Book 2 – The Devil, The Deaf & The Dead’. I’d work out the outline, chapter headers and half the research. The contents mostly aimed at addressing the Great Knysna Fire, and Government failure regarding the Democratic Alliance corruption I’ve reported – the ANC has a lot to answer for. That book, the more important of the two, may never be. I share an incomplete … Read the full article…

The Knysna Murders That Refuse to Die…

I re-post one of my mostly widely read articles to advertise that investigator Alan D. Elsdon has released his book about these Knysna murders and more. You can buy ‘Broken & Betrayed’ (register before purchasing). In the small town of Knysna, there are 3 murders that refuse to die… Face-down in the dirt of St George’s Anglican Church’s garden, Jessica Wheeler (18) was suffocated to death. Less than a month later, Victoria Stadler (20) was strangled to death in the forest between the suburbs of Hornlee and Noetzie. Peter Mc … Read the full article…

DA Fails Us Whities Again

Mike Hampton Posted on 8th Sep 2014 by mikehampton1st Nov 2020

I despise BEE for the same reasons i despised apartheid. Racism, of all sorts, is impractical to building a nation. Undoubtedly, there is great need to uplift poor people in South Africa but to raise one up by putting down another of a different colour isn’t balance, it’s impractical and just plain wrong. Of the things i’m critical of the ANC, it’s second, in importance, only to corruption. Likewise, the same applies to the DA who’ve abandoned their liberal policies in pursuit of black power.

Burmie Wins Big! Knysna Cops Lose!

Mike Hampton Posted on 25th Jul 2014 by mikehampton16th Jan 2021

On July 24 2014, Johann Burmeister, defeated the controversial case of theft (of a laptop) that was brought against him by the Knysna SAPS. It’s more than just a win. It’s an insight into the failure of police procedure and the abuse of power that is supposed to protect the public. It’s confirmation of conspiracy. On being found not guilty by Magistrate Derek Torlage, tears of relief and joy beautified the faces of both Johann and Denise, his wife who won the hearts of the public as she fought in … Read the full article…

Burmeister Trial: K.I.S.S. Keep It Simple Stupid

Mike Hampton Posted on 24th Jul 2014 by mikehampton16th Jan 2021

Before I cover day 2 and 3 of the trial of ex-Warrant Officer Johann Burmeister, let me explain, simply, how ridiculous this situation is: Johann Burmeister, a detective in the Knysna SAPS with 3 decades experience on the force, retrieves a recovered, stolen laptop from evidence at the Knysna police station in November 2013. His intention is to discover who the owner is. Sergeant Maurice Grootboom is in charge of evidence that day. He’s busy taking an affidavit so lets Burmeister take it without officially booking it out. Burmeister takes … Read the full article…

Big Score For Burmie in Court

Mike Hampton Posted on 22nd Jul 2014 by mikehampton16th Jan 2021

Johann Burmeister, as the defendant, couldn’t have wished for a better prosecution… why… because the prosecution was that hopeless. The 14 people who turned up to support ‘Burmie’ left without a doubt that he was being set-up and lynched… and that, thankfully, the prosecution’s rope was thinner than string. Burmeister was a long-serving, well respected, Knysna cop until he was kicked off the police force earlier this year and suspiciously charged with stealing a  laptop from evidence. Their possible motive is the biggest question, one which has disturbed many citizens. … Read the full article…

Kind Words for Johann Burmeister

Mike Hampton Posted on 3rd Jul 2014 by mikehampton16th Jan 2021

Richard Compton is a part-time resident of Knysna as his work is based in Kwa-Zulu Natal. However, his wife and daughter now reside in their family home on Leisure Isle. He was a famous cricketer in his own right but is especially proud of his son who has represented England in several test matches. He sent me with this warm letter of support for Johann Burmeister: “If I could testify at this trial to the good character of Johan Burmeister I most certainly would. It is enough to say that … Read the full article…

Is Johann Burmeister a Good Cop Being Destroyed?

Mike Hampton Posted on 2nd Jul 2014 by mikehampton16th Jan 2021

It’s the biggest Knysna skinder of the year but for ex-Warrant Officer Johann Burmeister and his family it has been tragedy and challenge. On February 26 2014, Burmeister, a 28-year veteran in Knysna and known nationally for the R2-billion cocaine bust on the Knysna Waterfront, was arrested by a fellow police officer and charged with not returning a recovered, stolen laptop to the police station. The arrest and chain of events that followed proved this to be no common story of yet another South African cop turned bad. Instead, considering … Read the full article…
