The ‘Helen Zille Flyer’

Mike Hampton Posted on 23rd Jul 2016 by mikehampton5th Jan 2021

The hoo-ha that the Knysna-Plett Herald and the Democratic Alliance (DA) made about my interaction with Helen Zille was exaggerated. I explain more in ‘An Honest Helen Zille Will Be Outraged at Her Minions’. Next week, I’ll post recordings of the whole meeting (that includes good things too). Now, I share with you the 4-page, ‘Helen Zille flyer’ that I handed to her and others present at that meeting at the Knysna Angling Club. After our short meeting, Helen Zille said she’d read it and, during our conversation, said she’d … Read the full article…

SANParks vs Knysna Angling & Diving Association

Mike Hampton Posted on 14th Apr 2016 by mikehampton1st Nov 2020

There’s controversy over SANParks choosing to take back the land that currently houses the Knysna Angling & Diving Association (KADA). To some it’s a community hangout, to others a well-known drinking hole. Add the fact that it’s on prime real estate, right beside the estuary, and SANPark’s decision was bound to ruffle feathers. This isn’t an article. It’s an attempt to understand the situation. I read a lot of comments on Facebook that contained too much emotion and hardly any facts. Please confirm the following and add any additional info … Read the full article…

For Tonight: Dear Knysna DA Members

Mike Hampton Posted on 12th Nov 2015 by mikehampton1st Nov 2020

DA members and supporters, will your leadership make you fearful at 5pm today at the meeting at the Knysna Angling Club? Will you choose to make a difference or will you continue to support the damage being done to our town by the current, dirty version of the DA? From my viewpoint, there’s a definite difference in the DA between: 1. Those who deliberately support crime and maladministration or don’t care because they’re more interested in conservative cliques and the real (or pretend) power that goes with being in that … Read the full article…

Cleaning the Knysna Estuary Shore

Mike Hampton Posted on 4th Jan 2015 by mikehampton1st Nov 2020

Dolores Coullie, the owner of Pata Patina in Grey Street, has made it her mission to clean up the estuary shore next to the Knysna Angling Club. I joined her this morning for two and a half hours during which we collected at least 30kg worth of rubbish, much of it broken bottles. One corner was overwhelmingly smelly with rot and faeces. In fact, the first piece of rubbish Dolores picked up was a used condom. A distributor of Builder’s Express had dumped two large packets of pamphlets advertising holiday … Read the full article…

Pojiekos Competition & Eating Fun

Mike Hampton Posted on 29th Oct 2014 by mikehampton29th Oct 2014

Enjoy this Sunday, November 2, with the Chairman’s Pojie Kos Competition. This fun event is presented by KADA (Knysna Angling and Diving Association) and hosted at the Knysna Angling Club. There’s a R100 entry fee for each team of two people. Lots of prizes to be won. For only R15, the public will dig their taste buds into a scoop of rice and a scoop of a potjie of their choice. Entrants should be there between 8-10am (depending on the time it’ll take them to make their potjie) and everyone … Read the full article…
