What the Hell is Happening in Knysna?

Mike Hampton Posted on 10th Dec 2014 by mikehampton1st Nov 2020

Do any of you truly understand what is happening in your town? If not, why not? I will post a lot more info this week to prove my point regards my header featuring Helen Zille who is by far my biggest failed heroine. She is the Premier of the Western Cape. Her job is primarily to work for us and look after us. She hasn’t. She turns up just before elections and boasts about her good deeds instead of talking about real issues that affect our town. Shake off your … Read the full article…

Knysna Crime Comments After Terence Bridgett's Violent Attack

Mike Hampton Posted on 24th Jun 2014 by mikehampton1st Nov 2020

“These are not the easiest of times, here at the southernmost tip of Africa. Socio-politically and economically there is much for us to be frustrated, angry and despondent about. As an entertainer, my job is to disperse those clouds with light, love and hopefully some laughter… ” – Terence Bridgett Back in March of this year, i published a controversial article about crime statistics on the Garden Route, comparing Knysna, George and Plettenberg Bay to one another. The most important observation was that Knysna isn’t the idyllic tourist getaway that … Read the full article…

Crime Statistics: Knysna vs George vs Plett

Mike Hampton Posted on 10th Mar 2014 by mikehampton14th Nov 2020

This is a crime comparison between three towns on the Garden Route that lie within 100km of each other. This is to prove that Knysna, one of South Africa’s most famous tourist and retirement towns, has a major crime problem that is being ignored. It’s a ticking time bomb made out of unemployment and drugs. Unaddressed, it can only explode. Knysna relies far too much on tourists so when anything negative such as crime is mentioned, citizens and politicians are likely to poo-pah it as a lie. Tradition is that … Read the full article…

Surviving the Recession & Politicians in a Small Town #3

Mike Hampton Posted on 9th May 2012 by mikehampton1st Nov 2020

If you missed it, Part 2 is here. Morality is a failed motivator towards union but maybe logic and fear will do better. “Logic” because a better life for non-whites will not be achieved by (misnamed) revolution seizing homes and businesses (i’ve been threatened with that). The reward would be anarchy because once something is taken so another will want to take it from the taker. And, in all likelihood, there will subsequent service delivery problems. That is not a criticism of ability (all races have the same potential if … Read the full article…

The K.E.E.P. Newsletter #17

Mike Hampton Posted on 29th Jan 2012 by mikehampton1st Nov 2020

Earl Warren: “I hate banks. They do nothing positive for anybody except take care of themselves. They’re first in with their fees and first out when there’s trouble.” For all the many complaints and opinions about the Recession in Knysna, it’s disappointing that few people actually know how and why it happened. Knowing why so many Knysna businesses have gone under (or being replaced by national franchises) should be something that we not only seek but also have taught to us by our local government. As they’ve repeatedly proven, the … Read the full article…
