The Knysna Literary Festival is getting the recognition it deserves. SABC News broadcast the heavier and the lighter side of the authors and books being promoted. Netwerk24 editor, Adriaan Basson, and Sunday Times journalist, Mzilikazi wa Afrika, spoke out against the repression of media. Iconic musician, Hugh Masekela, presented his memoir Still Grazing, saying that he hoped readers would find it informative, laugh and cry, treating it like life.

Major Youth Boost in Knysna Literary Festival

More than 160 entries in three languages were received from Knysna, including Sedgefield and Karatara, for the Young Writers Competition, part of the Knysna Literary Festival. This was well up on the 27 entries received last year, and Montessori School took top honours, with Percy Mdala School, Oakhill School and Karatara Schools also taking awards. Khoi Khonnexion perform to over 2000 Kids

Thanks to Picca de Bruin, director of the Knysna Literary Festival 2011, Garden Route Concerts was able to introduce Knysna to the KHOI KHONNEXION who are spoken word poets, Khoi musicians and Khoi culturalists. This also fitted wonderfully in with the GRUM concept as we visited over 2000 children through workshops at Percy Mdala, Hornlee Secondary, Knysna High and LoveLife Centre.
