Mike Hampton Posted on 30th Apr 2012 by Mike Hampton1st Nov 2020

Thanks to Mike Wood, the author, for his first contribution to Knysna Keep. It is always welcoming to find someone who can see both sides. We have to bridge the divide between Knysna central, its islands and the poor areas that surround them. Concordia, Khayalethu, Smutsville and Hornlee are Knysna suburbs too! Last night I had supper with departing friends at a well known, up-market Thesen Island restaurant. It’s the first time I’ve been back for a year and a half. Why? Because I’d imposed a personal boycott. How so? … Read the full article…

Dates for Establishment of Knysna Ward Committees Residents are highly encouraged to attend these meetings. Be involved in your town. Be involved for the sake of your family and economic future. Welcome to World Population Day, a joyous celebration of new neighbours to love, share and play with…err…mmm…let me begin again. The United Nations predicts that the human population of Earth will reach 7 billion on October 31 2011. That’s a 4 billion addition in only 52 years. Take consolation in the fact that growth is slowing. By the time my 39-year-old self is unlikely retired, I’ll be just 1 part in 9 billion – amazing; scary; amazingly scary! With Man’s joyous proclivity for loving his neighbour, this undoubtedly means more … Read the full article…

Mike Hampton Posted on 5th Jul 2011 by mikehampton1st Nov 2020
Not rain - God pissing on Cape Town politics and the Democratic Alliance

There is a lack of information on many important issues involving Knysna. Many have opinions but don’t have sufficient facts to do so. Sadly, in encounters i’ve had with some of Knysna’s leaders and workers, they lack knowledge too. I’m hoping that these questions will be a step towards not only informing the public better but also making them question. And i hope that it leads to questions and answers by our leaders and media too. Too this end, below will be emailed to local members of all political parties, … Read the full article…
