Open Letter to the DA: Expel Leon Naude and Kevin Grinaker

Mike Hampton Posted on 11th Sep 2014 by mikehampton1st Nov 2020

This letter is sent to the Knysna DA in the hope that you will no longer support bigots, nominally DA members Leon Naude and Kevin Grinaker. Bigotry, in this case, is prejudice based on race and ethnicity. I also send this to you, Jaco Londt, the DA’s Manager for the Eastern Region (Eden District and Klein Karoo) who is also our ‘liaison’ to Helen Zille. Jaco, i include you because the Knysna DA, in so many cases, refuses to communicate which is not only unconstitutional and a failure of their … Read the full article…

Update: Buffalo Bay, Protests & Furniture

Mike Hampton Posted on 8th Sep 2014 by mikehampton27th Jan 2021

I’m way behind on too much news but need to focus on reports and prep for court cases so I’m going to give you quick summaries instead of a blog for each topic: Buffalo Bay Erf 65 Sale A land surveyor is to be appointed to divide it into 3 erven which are to be sold with a reserve price of R5million each i.e. R15million. The current buildings will be demolished and the current office and workshop replaced on another municipal property. Furniture Esme Edge, the Deputy Mayor of Knysna … Read the full article…

Leon Naude, KRA, Racists, Protests & Politicians (Part 2)

Mike Hampton Posted on 26th Aug 2014 by mikehampton7th Jan 2021

To make politicians from all parties aware of the situation, I sent many this SMS: “See the Love Knysna Facebook. Chairman of the Knysna Ratepayers’ Association wants live ammo used on protesters. We cannot allow such bullshit attitude. By ‘we’ i mean the DA, ANC, COPE, Independent and the Public. Put pressure on the KRA to remove him immediately and apologise. To the politicians, please sort out Nekkies/Oupad situation without political point-scoring – be leaders who work together to move a mountain – Mike Hampton.” NO KNYSNA POLITICIAN RESPONDED. However, … Read the full article…

Leon Naude, KRA, Racists, Protests & Politicians (Part 1)

Mike Hampton Posted on 26th Aug 2014 by mikehampton7th Jan 2021

I shared the public’s outrage at Leon Naude (Chairman of the Knysna Ratepayers’ Association) after he called for live ammunition to be used on the N2 protestors from Oupad, Knysna. The Knysna Ratepayers’ Association was resurrected last year. Organisations such as it are particularly important so that we, the public, maintain oversight over our local government. It’s my hope that it rebuilds itself into a strong, valuable force. However, I don’t believe that that can happen under the current leadership. In particular, it was obvious that their leader, Leon Naude, … Read the full article…

Let's Shoot Knysna's Protestors

Mike Hampton Posted on 24th Aug 2014 by mikehampton1st Nov 2020

Leon Naude, the chairman of the Knysna Ratepayers’ Association (KRA), has responded to the protests on the N2 in Knysna (Nekkies/Oupad area) by calling for live ammunition to be used. His exact words were, “The police is to SOFT they should use rubber bullits or even better LIVE AMO our country is is not going to edge of the cliff WE are STADING ON THE EDGE.” The capital letters and bad spelling are his doing, not mine. He’s obviously serious that poor people who want the Knysna Municipality to listen … Read the full article…

DA Lies 2: Why I Called Helen Zille A Liar (Part 2)

Mike Hampton Posted on 7th Feb 2014 by mikehampton1st Nov 2020

-wait a minute – – no one asked a question??? That’s true but doesn’t represent what actually happened or compliment the distortions Peter Meyer’s commented on this blog. Here’s Helen Zille, the women who, against the rules of her own party, hasn’t responded to a single query of mine in years. And mine aren’t ordinary queries. They are long and as detailed as Helen Zille, You’re My Disappointment was. Not expecting no one else to ask a question, I was busy scribbling down what she’d just said. When she launched … Read the full article…

Why I Quit the Knysna Ratepayers’ Association (KRA)

Mike Hampton Posted on 11th Oct 2013 by mikehampton7th Jan 2021

I quit the Knysna Ratepayers’ Association (KRA). My participation was short; 1 public meeting and 2 committee meetings. This is not only why I did so but why it’s important for you to demand accountability if you choose to become a member. It’s especially important to any Knysna residents’ association that is considering joining. 2 weeks ago, I sent the following resignation: “Owing to the lack of response and my concerns about the KRA, i will be resigning from the KRA.  The KRA should be a watchdog rather than it … Read the full article…
