Mayor Memory Booysen looks like an idiot. Not only was there no lives or properties damaged the past two days, the opposition turned up for work at Bitou Municipality as if it they were normal days. Early morning Friday, in an unprecedented move, Memory Booysen, the Mayor of Bitou Municipality (and the first black DA mayor in South Africa), illegally interfered with the Administration by closing their offices and sending the staff home. Plettenberg Bay on Verge of ANC Takeover

The locked doors of Bitou Municipality (fondly called Plettenberg Bay by holidaymakers) gave frustrated citizens and the majority of councillors a cold welcome this morning. The odd action was requested by Mayor Memory Booysen who had cited expected opposition violence in a letter to Municipal Manager Allen Paulse.
