Wicked Mike’s Best Documentaries 2020

Mike Hampton Posted on 27th Dec 2020 by mikehampton3rd Jan 2021

These are the best international documentaries 2020 ranked. There are over 70 of them. Although the majority are English, foreign language truth-telling dominates the top spots. Below my summary are their trailers. The best documentary educates and makes a difference. ‘Collective’ gets the #1 position because it kept building and revealing, and then changed the dirty Romanian government. Corruption is the greatest challenge of our times, so this is an important lesson in that our silence can result in our death… or a change in our politicians. As power consolidates … Read the full article…

Your Neflix Foreign Movie Guide with trailers

I love foreign movies! Anyone who skips half the world’s entertainment is a fool! But you’re cleverer than Steve Jobs so you’re bookmarking this 🙂 Just as there’s Martin Scorsese, David Fincher and Quentin Tarantino, so there’s Yimou Zhang, Chan-wook Park, Jee-woon Kim and Nuri Bilge Ceylan. Unfortunately, the industry is male dominated worldwide but for every Nicole Kassell there’s a Susanne Bier. If you need more persuasion, know that ‘Gravity’ and ‘Cloud Atlas’ were written and directed by non-English directors. Obviously, they made foreign language movies before that. Our minds … Read the full article…

Netflix ‘Good’ for SA Internet TV

Mike Hampton Posted on 7th Jan 2016 by mikehampton1st Nov 2020

Netflix South Africa won’t have House of Cards or Game of Thrones but it will have newer shows such as Making a Murderer and Marvel’s Jessica Jones. Read why here. Netflix is offering a free trial period at www.netflixsouthafrica.co.za. Naspers owned video streaming service ShowMax has said that Netflix’s launch in South Africa will boost local awareness of internet television. On Wednesday night, US-based Netflix officially switched on its South African service as part of a launch in an extra 130 countries. The launch of Netflix in South Africa means … Read the full article…
