GARDEN ROUTE GAS RIGS On 21 October 2019, President Ramaphosa said: “The recent natural gas find in the Outeniqua basin off the Southern Cape coast gives great hope for future discoveries of coastal gas, including recoverable shale.” The DA also pushes a corporate agenda because that’s what makes them rich. Oil discovered off Garden Route coast

Oil and gas has been discovered off the coast of the environmentally sensitive Garden Route of South Africa. 1 billion barrels is expected. The discovery is located in Block 11B/12B which is in Brulpadda-1, an area in the Outeniqua Baisin that’s allocated to French company, Total. Qatar Petroleum and Canadian Natural Resources Limited have interests in it too. The discovery is less than 200km offshore, running approximately from Mossel Bay to Plettenberg Bay.
