DA Poo #16 – Please rob my house

Mike Hampton Posted on 16th Mar 2019 by mikehampton18th Mar 2019
Helen Zille in Knysna - DA FB photo

“The central question is whether the spending of taxpayer’s money requires oversight? It may seem to be the dumbest question of all time yet remains the most relevant. In our beautiful, undeniably fucked up country, citizens complain in crescendos of whispers. About burst pipes, broken roads, electricity prices, preventable petrol increases, preventable fluctuations of our currency, and so many other things. Yet the overwhelming majority do nothing to stop the rotten element in our Government that’s making us bankrupt. It’s like they’re yelling, “Don’t leave me out, come rob my … Read the full article…

SA Parliament Review 2017

Mike Hampton Posted on 2nd Jan 2018 by Mike Hampton1st Nov 2020

This Fifth Parliament of South Africa continues to break new ground. 2017 was a bumper year of parliamentary business, court battles, internal squabbles, jousting, brinkmanship, attempts to remove the President from office, dissolve Parliament and parliamentary inquiries. SSDG Same Shit, Different Government - April Fools Day

Dear African National Congress Chief Whip Victor Molosi, i compose this letter to you out of love for our town… It’s unfortunate that you force me to address you in this strong manner but i believe that the people of Knysna are more important than your failure to act. This open letter is driven by Knysna deserving better than what the Democratic Alliance (DA) and the African National Congress (ANC) have delivered so far. You’ve failed to accept invitations to meet me. The Provincial Executive Committee has failed to make … Read the full article…

Knysna Councillors Disagree with Municipal Manager Over Tender Process Documents

Mike Hampton Posted on 12th Jun 2015 by mikehampton1st Nov 2020

Thursday was another day in Knysna’s Council Chambers when all political parties were on the same page… a different page to Municipal Manager Grant Easton. With COPE Councillor Elrick (Ricky) van Aswegen being recently promoted to the previously only-DA-occupied, Knysna Mayoral Committee (MAYCO), this was his first time as Chairperson of the Section 80 Finance Committee. He began more stiffly formal than normal for him abut soon asserted his new command by requesting the attendance of Municipal Manager Grant Easton who had failed to be present to to deliver his … Read the full article…
