August 3 is symbolic for Knysna politics. At the local elections, the town won and the town lost. That could be said for every place in South Africa but the generalisation isn’t what I mean. August 3 is a question mark. It’s representative of the foggy nature of Knysna’s politics and its accompanying power that claims to be for the people yet seems to be anything but that because it doesn’t explain itself. This may be considered by readers to be the most interesting in this 4-part, Knysna political update… The second of the three boss posts to be filled was that of Acting Director Finance, or what is more commonly called the CFO (Chief Financial Officer). More Upheaval as Knysna’s Director of Finance Quits

Pariksha Gobrie, Knysna Municipality’s Director of Finance, has quit, giving only 3 week’s notice. Although her final day of work is August 12, her automatic email response says that Fredri Kruger is now Acting CFO. Although a name wasn’t mentioned, the Knysna Knews page has stated that “due to political interference, we have just lost yet another essential person in top directorate position… the DA caucus certainly has a lot to answer for.” Knysna Knews is obviously referring to the alleged and ongoing battle that involves DA Councillor Peter Myers … Read the full article…
