Plettenberg Bay Harbour Developer’s Application for Extension Rejected In April, we reported that the Department of Environmental Affairs and Development Planning of the Western Cape had rejected the developer’s Final Scoping Report for the Harbour Development; however, he was granted six months within which to submit a revised and compliant Scoping Report. The six-month extension expired on 7th October; two working days before the expiry date the developer applied for a two-year extension. Update from Save Plett Alliance… Proposed Plett Harbour Development “Blatantly Contravenes” the Integrated Coastal Management Act but the end not yet in sight … Edward Nathan Sonnenbergs (ENS) – Africa’s largest law firm – has submitted damning comments on the Final Scoping Report for a proposed harbour and landside development in Plettenberg Bay, and requested that the entire proposal be rejected. Plettenberg Bay Polarised by Small Boat Harbour Plans

With a number of my subscribers living in Plettenberg Bay, and Knysna residents drawing comparisons to the DA’s lack of transparency regarding the Knysna ISDF, i’m fulfilling requests for more information regarding Plett’s proposed Small Boat Harbour Development by Western Cape Marina Investments. The 87 000 m² intention will require extensive dredging of the Piesang River mouth and relocation/destruction of a R30million desalination plant so that a harbour can be built next to the Beacon Isle Hotel. Plett also Getting Screwed by the DA & Developers

The DA in Plettenberg Bay (Bitou) is getting up to the same nonsense as they have in Knysna – Developers First, Public Last. We’ve experienced it with the ISDF and the cutting of the wetlands. Plettenberg Bay is experiencing it with the proposed development for a Small Boat Harbour. There is a pattern of events on the Garden Route that should disturb voters i.e. you don’t matter, only politicians and big business do…hell, no, i say – hopefully you do too! Our lives, our money and our vote matters.
