Why Did DA Allow ANC Study Funding?

Mike Hampton Posted on 12th Mar 2017 by mikehampton10th Jan 2021

Dear Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane, this is my SEVENTH COMPLAINT of alleged maladministration and corruption submitted to the Eden District office of the Public Protector. Why did the Knysna Democratic Alliance allow the use of public funds to pay for the studies of then ANC Chief Chip Stephen de Vries and his right-hand man, Clive Witbooi? Why were the public, who voted for the DA, not told? It was even more bizarre that there was no practical opposition from the ANC for the 5 years between elections. So much went … Read the full article…

The ANC Betrays Knysna Again

Mike Hampton Posted on 17th Aug 2016 by mikehampton1st Nov 2020

The Knysna ANC has again, shamefully, walked away from the responsibility they owe their voters. They did so on their first day of office, at their own inauguration. It’s damaging. It places them on the back foot at the start of a five-year term during which we need all our councillors to give of their best, especially the opposition which must keep those in power in check. This was actually the ANC’s third irresponsibility in 6 weeks. THE FIRST WALK-OUT The first was at a Section 80 meeting. Those kinds … Read the full article…

The Elephants in the Room Complaint (Part 2)

Mike Hampton Posted on 16th Aug 2016 by mikehampton1st Nov 2020

SUMMARY OF THE ‘ELEPHANTS IN THE ROOM COMPLAINT’ 1. The alleged racist actions of a Cape Town municipal employee and his questionable hiring by the Knysna Municipality. That question has extended further into possible need for investigation into the Municipal Manager and Director Community Services. Both failed to respond to 5 months of queries. Instead, they’ve suspiciously supplied confirmatory affidavits to the employee in question in support of his request for a Protection Order against me. This must be considered as an attempt to keep information from the public. Court … Read the full article…

Interview: Knysna Ward 4's Velile Waxa

Mike Hampton Posted on 28th Jul 2016 by mikehampton1st Nov 2020

Velile Waxa has left the ANC to become an Independent. He’s contesting Ward 4 (White Location) in Knysna. His participation in the elections must concern the ANC and the KUC (Knysna Unity Congress) asĀ  he’s well known and, apparently, well liked. Waxa was previously a large figure in the Knysna ANC. In fact, he led their campaign for the 2011 elections. He was, suddenly, without reasoning, replaced by Stephen de Vries (who went on to lead the party as main opposition the past 4 years). The ANC call it “redeployment” … Read the full article…

Who is the Knysna ANC dancing for?

Mike Hampton Posted on 4th Jul 2016 by mikehampton27th Jan 2021

Who is the Knysna ANC dancing For? Is it for controversial Municipal Manager Grant Easton? I’ve previously stated that i believed that the ANC and the DA have been working with the Administration of the Knysna Municipality against the public’s best interest. The Administration are the municipal officials who make up one-third of local government. The other two parts are the politicians and us, the public. Less than a year ago, it was notable that the DA had split into two caucuses, one pro-Administration, the other not. The latter won … Read the full article…

Battle: Knysna Municipal Planning Tribunal

Mike Hampton Posted on 4th Jul 2016 by mikehampton1st Nov 2020

The battle over who would be included on the Knysna Municipal Planning Tribunal (KMPT) deserves more detail than given in my previous blog, ‘Public Victory: Susan Campbell for Tribunal’. THE PUBLIC PUT FIRST BY COINCIDENCE? Politics was afoot when DA Speaker Eleanore Bouw-Spies moved the Knysna Municipal Planning Tribunal item from the back of the agenda to the front. The public can rarely afford the patience (or the time off work) to sit through a full session of a Council meeting. Consequently, it’s become notable that some matters most relevant … Read the full article…

The ANC Doesn't Want Coloureds, Mr President

Mike Hampton Posted on 27th Jun 2016 by mikehampton1st Nov 2020

Last night, i was forwarded an explosive, internal ANC email. It was originally sent toĀ President Jacob Zuma from Ralph Stander, an ex-member of the Western Cape Provincial Executive Committee (PEC). It’s the most important ANC email i’ve read. It’s more important than when i received the criminal record of Oudtshoorn’s ANC Mayor, Gordon April (which the DA strangely kept secret). The email i received was sent from Jan Waarheid. I’m assuming that’s a fake name name so i’m forging ahead with this blog before receiving a response from him/her. Ralph … Read the full article…

Hampton and Campbell ordered out of Council Chambers

Mike Hampton Posted on 14th Jun 2016 by mikehampton27th Jan 2021

This is a continuation toĀ  ‘The Battle for Knysna’s Land Continues’ where the Knysna Municipal Planning Tribunal topic was introduced. You should read that before proceeding… “It is deficient. In fact, there are no reasons given for the recommendations that the Municipal Manager makes… we’re here to recommend to the Council who we think would be appropriate to the Planning Tribunal…” Those were the words of Councillor Peter Myers, the Chairperson of the Section 80 Committee for Planning, Infrastructure and Development. He was referring to the recommendations of those to … Read the full article…
