The Cave at Coney Glen, Knysna
The pathway to the cave up the cliff at Coney Glen in Knysna is mostly washed away – no handholds so have to keep body low and dig hands into sand whilst the cliff drops sharply away from you. Because of that danger, i cannot recommend that any casual tourist or local climb up there but i can at least share a photo of the view.
As i’m scared of heights, being up there made the reward greater.
Would love to have stayed overnight but without a blanket and a fire that would’ve been freezing. Rain would make that more awkward as the erosion of the path is mostly due to a leak through the rocks that starts at the back of the cave.
Up and down rocks, that hike made me realise how unfit i am and how important it’s to have better shoes… and not drink beer before:) And i tore my fourth, and last, summer baggies. Nevertheless, breathtaking!
