The Joy of Goukamma

At the start, we had to pull on a rope so that a pontoon could carry us across the Goukamma River
There was glory in our hike in the Goukamma Nature Reserve on Sunday, May 29 2016.
There were 23 of us, ranging from 12 years of age to retired. I point that out because the hike is accessible to most, ranging from easy to moderate difficulty. The moderate section was in the beginning, walking up a tall fynbos-covered sand dune. At the top, the reward was an incredible view of the Goukamma River.
Rather than stick to one trail, we walked half of the Bush Pig Trail and half of the Galjoen Trail. This meant that our journey from the viewpoint was downhill for the next 3km and then along the cost for another 4km.
To the delight of the kids, we found a dead porcupine fish and a large, very alive jellyfish.
The entrance fee for our Love Knysna Project’s excursion was sponsored by Cape Nature but at R40 for adults and R20 for kids, it’s worth everybody’s while to visit this incredibly beautiful area of Knysna.
