We Say No to the Mayor & Knysna-Plett Herald
We need you to send a clear message to our politicians, Knysna Municipality and the Western Cape government regards the ISDF, the plan for our future. It’ll only take you seconds.
On the Knysna-Plett Herald’s (KPH) website, there’s a poll on the right-hand menu bar. I need you to vote TODAY even though the poll there is biased. Let me explain…
The choice of words is very important. Propagandists have realised that for a very long time. It’s been a particularly useful tool for corrupt governments.
Yesterday, i expressed my concern that the newspaper is not reporting fairly and seemingly taking the side of the government. Their choice of words, rather than being impartial, favours those we’re opposing, those we’re battled for years to get transparency and accountability from.
The newspaper’s poll is another example. We are given three options:1. I am concerned about dishonesty or corruption surrounding the ISDF. 2. I will consider the ISDF with an open mind. 3. I am not interested.
Can you see what’s wrong? Instead of making #2 the opposite of #1, something like “I believe the ISDF process has been fair”, they said “I will consider the ISDF with an open mind”. The Knysna-Plett Herald is suggesting that anyone who doesn’t choose that option doesn’t have an open mind – WTF?
I want you send a loud and clear message to our government, KPH Editor Elaine King and Group Editors’ Director Nicole Moolman, that we are not only suspicious of the ISDF process but KNOW that it sucks and considers us, the public, worthless.
Please play their ‘game’ and kick their balls by going to www.knysnaplettherald.com and voting for:
‘#1.I AM CONCERNED ABOUT DISHONESTY OR CORRUPTION SURROUNDING THE ISDF’.
The newspaper has to print the results as they’ve done for every poll. An overwhelming result in our favour, those who seek better government, will be more weight for our argument. It will also send a message to Mayor Georlene Wolmarans, who stated that this matter is over, that
IT ISN’T OVER!
Never forget that without us, none of our politicians and municipal employees would have jobs. Never forget that without a community supporting it, Knysna-Plett Herald cannot be called a “community newspaper”, just a delivery mechanism for advertisers (such as Game, Pick ‘n Pay, the Knysna DA and Knysna Municipality) who support them.
NB: Get involved. It is YOUR future. Please share this post and comment on Facebook.
