A new report by the SA Institute for Race Relations places us (78/100) a distant second to Gauteng (92/100).
We were, together with the Eastern Cape, last with regards social issues such as malnutrition levels and matric pass rates. I expect our Eden District to be a sad culprit.
The Western Cape leads in service delivery but that only makes sense if the large centres are being looked after better than our small towns. Then again, the standard bar is too damn low for the whole country.
Positively, we ranked first for health (HIV-positive women attending antenatal clinics etc.) but, unfortunately, the Western Cape was rated the worst for crime!
