Will it Float or Sink is On in Sedgefield Today!
Will it float or will it sink?
This is always the question at the forefront of participants and spectators minds when they stand on the waters’ edge about to launch their ‘Anything that Floats’ masterpieces! An event filled full of fun, it entails friends or family members building a raft from scratch in the allocated time and then attempting to manoeuvre the craft around a pre-determined water course on the Sedgefield lagoon.
This year’s ‘Anything that Floats’ event looks to be just as much fun as last year with three categories to compete in meaning three category prizes AND the overall (floating?) trophy! The categories this year will be two crew, four crew and more than four crew teams. The overall prize winner will be determined by adding their race time to a score given for creativity and presentation of floats.
The event takes place on Sat 4th April on the open area in front of Placid Waters. Building starts at 07h00, raft judging at 10h00, followed by racing at 11h00. So come and build the most creative floating devices and enjoy a morning on the water!
The basic rules:
- You are not allowed to enter into the competition if you arrive with a completed float, floats must be built on the morning of 4th April ONLY!!!
- No part of any boat or recognized boat parts are allowed.
