Yummy Pizzas at Col’Cacchio!
A sunny Friday begged for mates, conversation and pizza so i rounded up an entertaining posse of five and chowed down at Col ‘Cacchio, the new Italian restaurant on Thesen Islands.
We opted to go the 100% pizza route so that we could order several and taste the difference…except that the 3 vegetarians weren’t going to be digging their fingers into a meaty choice. Luckily for them, Col ‘Cacchio has the best vegetarian selections i’ve ever seen – 16 pizza varieties!
Ensuring the promise of “wood fired gourmet pizzas” we opted for the:
Green Genie (v)
Roasted Garlic, roasted Butternut, roasted Beetroot, Shiitake Mushrooms, Rocket, Avo, *Italian Parmesan, Feta, Pumpkin Seeds, Sesame Seeds, Sunflower Seeds. Balsamic glaze (wow!)
Griglia (v)
Roasted Vegetables, Feta, Rosemary
And two of us got even more interesting by ordering half and half of the following:
Morituri
Seasoned Chicken Breast Strips, Bacon, Feta, roasted Red Pepper, Avo
La Zizou
Seven Hour Lamb Stew, Balsamic Cherry Tomatoes, Spring Onion, Garlic, fresh Basil, topped with Basil Pesto Mayonnaise
DELICIOUS! We agreed that choosing a favourite was the difference between very good and amazing. That in mind, the La Zizou (R105) and the Green Genie (R95) came out tops.
Add beer and strong Lavazza coffee and we were full…yet us greedy bastards decided to top our lunch off with the dessert decadence that was a pizza covered in Nutella chocolate sauce and banana slices.
Thanks to our waitress Nosi who was quick to clear the table and even quicker with a smile.
Fab experience that begs you to try it too!
