Zille Campaigns for DA in Bitou
Ahead of the Bitou by-election this coming Wednesday, DA Leader Helen Zille visited the town and delivered this speech in the suburb of KwaNokuthula.
Today as we hold our final campaign rally before the residents of Bitou’s ward 7 go to the polls, we must not forget that Wednesday’s vote is the most crucial since 2011 for the people of this municipality.
Ward 7 in Bitou is an example of how voters in wards across South Africa continue to turn more towards the DA with each election.
In 2011 the ANC comfortably won this ward, but three years later, in the 2014 elections, the DA secured a majority in this ward, winning 48% of the vote to the ANC’s 45% – a big 16% swing to the DA.
That is why when the ANC councillor recently resigned here, the Blue Machine got straight to work.
And yesterday former ANC councillor Nolan Stuurman saw the difference we are making in Bitou and joined the Democratic Alliance!
As usual the ANC have been up to dirty tricks to cling to power in this ward.
We know they work through criminal elements to stir up violence and vandalism – this ungovernability tactic is not unique to Bitou.
The ANC are desperate because they know if we win this ward from them, the DA will no longer need a coalition to govern Bitou. We will make Bitou true blue!
So on Wednesday, 17 September, I am appealing to every single DA supporter to get out and vote, because your vote will make history in Bitou.
well by-elections do not follow national elections patterns, people vote for a person in the by-election,, not the party.. so probably the ANC will take the tape on Wednesday. Oom Samie a much respected elder in Kranshoek.. Griqwa nogal..
That is sometimes true. By Friday we will know what happened.
She forfot to tell the people of ward 7 that they (DA) bought Nolan Stuurman to resign from the ANC and to join the DA. They offered him a job in George and a businessman from Plett made the money available.
Time will tell. If the ANC has evidence then they must provide.
